AGM Summary

The Village Association (VA) AGM was held on Tuesday 24 November which, in light of the ongoing COVID restrictions, was held online using Zoom.

The meeting was attended by all the VA Directors along with representatives from Hazelvine. Residents from twelve properties and a number of business members joined the meeting.

Jon Forde chaired the meeting and started by giving a review of the VA’s work during the year. This included:

• Details of the maintenance and repair work undertaken, including repairs to paving, pathways, drainage, new waste bins across The Village and the redecoration of many of the black bollards.

• An overview of the work and challenges dealt with by the Warden team over the past 12 months. This included an update on the relationship with the Police, instances of anti-social behaviour dealt with by the team and the expansion of CCTV.

• The work throughout the year by our landscaping contractor, Acacia.

• An overview of the VA’s work in lobbying local organisations including Surrey / Tandridge / Parish Councils, CBCT and local businesses including Tesco’s, Village Vets and The Fleeting Brook.

• The work of the VA in response to and the impact of COVID on the VA’s plans.

• Finally, an overview of the VA’s engagement with residents and members.

Looking at the financials, the spend for 2019 was discussed as was the budget for 2021. The VA outlined its plans and focus for the year ahead which will be a year of building up of the reserves and planning for 2022 and the next round of maintenance and repair works.

The final formal agenda piece was the resolutions and voting for the three Directors; the VA is pleased to confirm the re-appointment of Simon Nunn of Nunn & Co Accountants as Business Director and the appointments of Jane Stephens and Gary Leatherby of CSE Chatterbox as Resident & Business Directors respectively.

We followed the formal agenda with a Q&A session where questions included the 2021 budget, travellers, request for a pedestrian crossing and concerns around vehicles exiting Tesco’s.

The VA board wish to thank all those who attended and those who sent in proxy votes for their participation. We look forward to continuing our engagement with residents, businesses and all users of The Village in 2021.
